- "Our next act of retaliation will be to destroy the city of London."
Big Ben Strikes Again is the third produced, and broadcast, episode of the British television series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.
Plot[]
In the centre of London, a double police-escorted transporter, carrying a nuclear explosive device built for civilian use, seemingly goes out of control - shaking off its motor guards, and its driver regaining consciousness in a back alley...
The transporter, now in the remote-controlled possession of the Mysterons, has been hidden in an under-construction car park...
Captain Scarlet and Captain Blue are assigned to investigate the driver's mysterious discovery: that the famous Big Ben clock struck 13 times...which may be a clue to finding the missing transporter before it destroys the whole of Central London...
Trivia[]
- The name Big Ben is commonly used in reference to both the clock in the Clock Tower (now Elizabeth Tower) of the Palace of Westminister, as well as the so-called Great Bell (the largest of five) in the tower itself. It enjoys local historic designation, as well as recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
