Protect and Survive is the 4th broadcast and the 1st produced episode of Independent television series Space Precinct.
Plot[]
Brogan and Haldane are assigned to protect a murder witness, when his life is threatened.
Synopsis[]
Informant Silk Ostrasky leads Brogan and Haldane to the drop-off point for a shipment of illegal Xyronite immigrants smuggled to Altor by Tylan Gershom. The officers pursue the courier's astravan as he attempts to escape, but the courier is killed during a shootout at a meat store. Jane and Took question the immigrants but Took contracts Xyron fever from them and collapses. As she is placed in quarantine, Podly orders his officers to find a way to stop Gershom before he spreads Xyron fever across the planet. Meanwhile, Gershom has learned of Silk's part in the death of his courier and arranges a fatal 'accident in a car park, but the murder is witnessed by Melazoid business execuitive Armand Loyster, who agrees to testify against Gershom. Brogan and Haldane are assigned to Loyster's protection at the Hotel Nirvana but Gershoom plants a bug in the main office at the Station House to learn of the witness's whereabouts.

Trivia[]
- Ted Shackelford's right cheek was cut in an accident during the filming of the meat store shootout, so his injury was written into the script. The scar can be seen on Shackelford's face in all subsequent episodes, suggesting that Double Duty must always be seen as episode one and this one as episode two.
- Loyster and Mephistes are both voiced by former Supermarionation voice artist David Healy.
- Oliver Cotton previously appeared as Spearman in the Space: 1999 episode The Full Circle.
