• In the first episode, Mac expresses great reluctance and fury at the suggestion of Joe being used as a 'Most Special Agent'. During his outburst he expresses how Joe, despite not being his real son, has come to mean more to him than anything else since his wife Mary passed away. This reveals that he is both a widower and Joe's adopted father.
• The puppet for Ian McClaine was created especially for Joe 90 and did not go on to make any appearances in The Secret Service.
