Tony Barwick was born on the 10th of July 1934 in St Pancras, London and held many writing positions with Gerry Anderson's TV productions. His background before script writing involved electronics and computers, which gave him a unique knowledge on the subject. He started out as a script reviser for 11 episodes of British television series Thunderbirds series 1, wrote two episodes of series 2, went on to become the head writer and script editor for Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons, and continued as script editor through Joe 90 and The Secret Service right until UFO. He was busy writing for other shows during The Protectors and Space:1999 season 1, but was open to write some episodes of season 2.

When Gerry Anderson started work on Terrahawks, Tony Barwick was brought onboard to write 35 out of the 39 episodes along with his long time collaborator Donald James. His peculiar brand of tounge in cheek humour and wacky sensibilities were responisble for much of the identity of the show. After Terrahawks condluded,  Gerry Anderson got him to collaborate with previous Terrahawks set designer and sfx artist Terry Adlam in bringing to life the bumbling adventures of Dick Spanner. He died on the 18th of August 1993 (aged 59).
