The signature color of his IR uniform is canary yellow.
Virgil inherited his father Jeff's interest in all things mechanical, leading to his attending and graduating from Denver School of Advanced Technology.
Whatever danger-zone challenges he and Thunderbird 2 are confronted with, he maintains a cool-headedness and calm, which in turn helps steady those accompanying him on their life-saving missions.
His dexterity extends well beyond TB2 and its numerous pod vehicles. Considered the most mature and cultured of the Tracy siblings, he's both a gifted artist and musician, talents inherited from his late mother Lucy, whom he is said to resemble. He's often seen seated at the grand piano in the Tracy Villa lounge.
He also appears to be ambidextrous, as he paints with both his right and left hand (a trait younger brother Gordon seems to possess, as well).
Virgil is named after Virgil "Gus" Grissom, the second American to go into space, aboard his Project Mercury capsule Liberty Bell 7.
- David Holliday originated the role, in the first series (he was also the only American in the voice-cast);
- Jeremy Wilkin took over the role for the second series, as well as the two feature films.
